1. Compliance with Laws
Suppliers of Abalıoğlu Balık ve Gıda Ürünleri A.Ş. are obligated to fully comply with all national and international legislation, standards, and legal requirements related to their activities, products, and services.
Suppliers shall:
• Commit to complying with applicable labor laws, employee rights, and social security obligations.
• Operate with environmental responsibility, adhering to applicable environmental laws.
• Pay employees fairly and in accordance with applicable wage laws, ensuring payments are not below the legal minimum wage.
• Possess and maintain all necessary permits, licenses, and approvals required for their operations.
2. Human Rights
Suppliers commit to upholding human rights and ensuring non-discrimination against employees. No discrimination is allowed in recruitment, working conditions, promotion, or termination based on religion, language, race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, or any similar grounds. Suppliers must take all necessary measures to prevent discriminatory behavior among their employees.
• Forced, Bonded, or Compulsory Labor: Suppliers shall not subject employees to forced, bonded, or compulsory labor. Employees have the right to freely leave their employment.
• Protection of Children and Young Workers: Suppliers shall not employ child labor at any stage. Employment of young workers must fully comply with national legislation, ILO standards, and relevant protection principles.
• Prohibition of Discrimination: Suppliers shall not engage in discrimination in recruitment, working conditions, promotion, or termination processes.
• Prevention of Harassment and Abuse: Suppliers must protect employees from physical, psychological, sexual, or verbal harassment and all forms of abuse.
• Disciplinary Practices: Disciplinary actions towards employees must be lawful, humane, and respectful.
• Working Hours: Suppliers must comply with national laws regarding working hours and pay legal overtime wages. At least one rest day must be provided every seven days.
• Legal Wages: Employees must be paid fairly and in full, not less than the statutory minimum wage.
• Contracts and Transparency: All employees must be employed under transparent, written, and lawful contracts.
• Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining: Suppliers shall respect employees’ rights to form and join unions and engage in collective bargaining.
• Grievance Mechanisms: Suppliers must establish accessible and reliable mechanisms for employees to report complaints without fear of retaliation.
• Decent Accommodation: Where accommodation is provided, suppliers must ensure it is safe, hygienic, and meets decent living standards.
• Safe and Healthy Working Environment: Suppliers must take all necessary occupational health and safety measures and provide employees with appropriate training, equipment, and protective gear.
3. Working Conditions
Suppliers must ensure full legal compliance with relevant labor laws and international labor standards in all operations. Under no circumstances is child labor permitted; for young workers, national laws, ILO regulations, and protective measures must be followed.
Forced, bonded, or compulsory labor is strictly prohibited. Employees must not be subjected to any form of involuntary work and must have the freedom to leave employment voluntarily and without coercion.
Suppliers must provide all employees with a safe, healthy, and dignified working environment. Occupational health and safety risks must be regularly assessed, and an effective management system must be implemented to prevent workplace accidents and occupational diseases. Protective equipment, personal safety gear, regular health checks, and periodic training must be provided.
Wages must not fall below the legal minimum. Payments must be made fully, on time, and transparently. Overtime work must be voluntary and compensated according to legal regulations. Working hours must comply with applicable laws, and at least one day of rest per seven-day period must be provided.
Suppliers must respect the right of employees to organize, form or join unions, and engage in collective bargaining. No actions shall be taken to hinder the exercise of these rights.
Suppliers are also expected to promote gender equality in the workforce. In accordance with the Maternity Protection Convention, women’s rights during pregnancy and after childbirth must be fully safeguarded, including their legal leave entitlements and job security.
4. Environment
Suppliers shall conduct all operations in full compliance with national and international environmental legislation and systematically evaluate their environmental impacts. All necessary measures must be taken to protect natural resources, prevent pollution, and safeguard ecosystems.
Suppliers must:
• Manage wastewater in accordance with legal and environmental standards.
• Ensure the treatment, reuse, or safe disposal of wastewater.
• Implement waste management based on principles of recycling, reusing, and source reduction.
• Handle hazardous waste in an environmentally responsible manner.
Energy efficiency must be prioritized; energy-saving technologies and processes must be implemented. Sustainable water use methods must be adopted, including measuring, monitoring, and reducing water consumption.
All products and services provided by suppliers must fully comply with environmental, quality, and safety standards and align with environmental responsibility principles.
5. Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption
Suppliers shall not engage in bribery, corruption, embezzlement, fraud, or any other illegal practices at any stage of their operations. Offering, promising, giving, or accepting bribes or improper benefits is strictly prohibited.
Suppliers must uphold transparency and integrity in all business dealings. They shall not provide, offer, or accept any form of payment, gift, privilege, or benefit to influence business decisions with public authorities, clients, employees, or third parties.
Suppliers must implement internal control mechanisms to prevent such actions and ensure their employees and subcontractors also comply with anti-bribery and anti-corruption obligations.
All potential conflicts of interest must be declared in advance and properly documented. Compliance with all relevant national and international anti-corruption laws must be ensured, supported by internal policies and procedures.
6. Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest
Suppliers must avoid any situations that could create actual or perceived conflicts of interest and adhere to principles of impartiality and integrity in all business relations. They must not engage in any activity that could compromise the impartiality of their business dealings due to personal or close associate interests.
Suppliers must notify all relevant parties if a potential conflict of interest arises and implement internal policies and controls to prevent such situations. They must ensure their employees adhere to the same standards.
7. Information Security
Suppliers must ensure the protection of trade secrets, financial data, technical information regarding production processes, and all other confidential and sensitive information belonging to Abalıoğlu Balık ve Gıda Ürünleri A.Ş.
Such information must only be accessed by authorized individuals for legitimate business purposes and within necessary limits. Confidential information must not be shared with third parties or institutions without prior written consent. All necessary technical and administrative measures must be taken to ensure information security and protect against cybersecurity risks.
Suppliers are also responsible for ensuring their own suppliers comply with the principles and standards outlined in this Supplier Code of Conduct. They must regularly monitor, verify, and document compliance throughout their supply chain.
8. Product Specifications and Disclosure
Suppliers commit to providing transparent information about the content and components of the products they supply. In this context:
• If products contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or GMO-derived ingredients, this must be clearly disclosed to all buyers.
• For each product, the levels of active ingredients, added antibiotics, or other medicinal feed additives must be detailed in mg or g per kg of product.
Suppliers must ensure that all product-related disclosures are accurate, complete, up-to-date, and verifiable. Misleading or incomplete declarations are strictly prohibited.
Suppliers are obligated to communicate the principles and obligations outlined in this Supplier Code of Conduct to their own suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners, ensure their compliance, and conduct regular audits.
